President Barack Obama's First Year Gets Mixed Verdict

Nearly nine out of 10 people questioned in a new poll say they like Obama personally. Even three-quarters of Republicans say they think Obama is a good guy. But the Associated Press-GfK poll suggests mixed reviews on the job the president is doing after his first year in office.

In the poll, 42 percent surveyed rate Obama as an above average or outstanding president. A year ago, 65 percent expected him to be.

In the summer, nearly half of Americans surveyed thought Obama was trying to do too many things too quickly. Now an increasing number of people -- especially Democrats -- want him to pick up the pace, even if not all are exactly sure what he should do.

The economy continues to be the dominant concern, and Obama's 47 percent approval rating on handling the economy has hardly budged for months.

The president's overall approval rating is 56 percent, down from 74 percent a year ago.

hmm...I wonder if Brown would accept 300 naa 400 million from Reid. I'll give him 400 mil. for that old truck. if he doesn't accept our bribe, we'll just have to get the vote from another weak goat.

Obonga's expression in pic looks like he's thinking, dang it...the truck driver has disrupted my plan to ruin this nation. I have to get with Reid & Pelosi so we can come up with other schemes and avoid any opposition which comes from Brown. They're complaining about my "back room meetings", they'll just have to deal with more of the same. We have to remain Un-transparent. I'm going to pass this bill no matter what. gotta dig up some dirt on this guy. I should have never spoken idiotic things about this Brown guy. I'm still in control, not the people of the United States!

Senate Democrats on Wednesday proposed allowing the federal government to borrow an additional $1.9 trillion to pay its bills, a record increase that would permit the national debt to reach $14.3 trillion. The unpopular legislation is needed to allow the federal government to issue bonds to fund programs and prevent a first-time default on obligations. It promises to be a challenging debate for Democrats who, as the party in power, hold the responsibility for passing the legislation. The record increase in the so-called debt limit is required because the budget deficit has spiraled out of control in the wake of a recession that cut tax revenues, the Wall Street bailout, and increased spending by the Democratic-controlled Congress. Last year's deficit hit a phenomenal $1.4 trillion, and the current year's deficit promises to be as high or higher. Makes sense, borrow more money to pay off bills? Thank God they will need 60 votes to pass this.

it took eight years to tire of Bush and only one to tire of Obama and his questionable directions...the fact today, just as it were one year ago still is the job market! There are still ppl w/o work and healthcare is the the most important issue to the Dems. This shows that their agenda is not this country, but rather their own misleading destructive ideals! Prioritize your issues in a manner that reflects the American majority, then maybe you will have earned(learn this word earned)the right to be treated like adults.

????, can you tell me how long Saddam held off the UN inspectors before he actually let them in? I'll tell you it was long enough for him to get rid of what he had. How many Kurds did he kill in Iraq by the use of mustard gas? But I know you steer away from the truth and only see and beleive what you want to.
