Woman Dead After Car Chase With Highway Patrol In Concord

A 22-year-old woman has died after a chase with North Carolina troopers ended in a fiery wreck.

Multiple media outlets report that Jasmine Wright pronounced dead at the scene of the crash Friday night in Concord.

The Highway Patrol says Wright was the passenger in a car that troopers tried to pull over on Interstate 485 in Mecklenburg County.

Troopers say they began chasing Keyone Joel after clocking his speed at 82 mph. Authorities say he drove at least 100 mph while they chased him.

Joel turned onto another road and hit an incline. The car overturned, then hit a ditch and a tree. He was flown to Carolinas Medical Center and listed in critical condition.

Troopers didn't believe alcohol was a factor in the crash. No charges have been filed.

B...that is the dumbest crap I have ever heard. If you have a cop car behind you and you don't pull over, then it is on you. They are trying to do their job. Just because some punk didn't want to pull over, doesn't mean that the cop following him should get charged. Wake up and grow up!

That is the dumbest comment of the week. The cop tried to stop him. He ran. The fault is with the runner. You just hate the police, wonder why?

From WSOCTV.COM ... Investigators are still trying to figure out why Joel decided to run. Eyewitness News learned the Chevy Cavalier he was driving was reported stolen in Charlotte on Saturday and neither of the victims had a valid driver's license. Joel also had a prior arrest for cocaine on 4/8/09. Those are the reasons he ran!

If the cops are on your trail, you WILL get caught. Just pull over and save everyone some grief. This woman was way too young and was defenseless against the driver's actions.

Folks, what is so hard about pulling over. The driver of this vehicle should now be charged with murder for running from the police and killing his passenger.
