Heating Bills Expected To Soar

The cold snap in the area means more people will turn up the heat, which means those electric bills may go through the roof.

For Washington Utilities customers, that could be an added strain to their wallets. Two to three hundred customers a month are delinquent on their bills. And with this cold snap, Washington Utilities expects that problem to get worse.

The city has revamped its policies to help customers by offering payment assistance plans, extensions and flexible payments.

The Department of Social Services also has a crisis intervention program which has run out of funds, but we're told the state is talking about releasing more money due to the increased need for assistance.

Obama: My Plan Makes Electricity Rates Skyrocket http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=erCjtiiwx30 in his own words.

US Citizen, that stands to correct me, up to $4000 per household in the name of global warming. I figured with the Bush tax cut removed as Obamas first official act, increases in homeowners insurance and taxes, I will make $6000 less take home next year. This is $500 dollars per month more than last year. So, how is that hopey changey thing going for yall? Why did you vote for a pay cut? This doesn't include healthcare....yet.....Did everybody win the lottery this year and its just me?

Here goes the proof relating to Why the rates are soaring. This info is taken from http://www.wral.com/news/local/story/5493655/ Power bills could soar under Obama's energy plan. Progress Energy spokesman Mike Hughes said Thursday that based on what he's been hearing in congressional debates, it's a possibility under President Barack Obama's energy plan, which narrowly passed the U.S. House of Representatives last week. "One thing we know for sure is that major changes to laws that affect coal-fueled power plants will raise the price of electricity, because half of the electricity we generate for customers comes from coal plants," he said. PSNC predicts that the bill, in its current form, could potentially cause rates to go up by 5 to 15 percent by 2016. The U.S. House approved Obama's plan Friday in a 219-212 vote. Republicans were overwhelmingly against the measure, arguing it would destroy jobs in the middle of a recession, while burdening customers with a new taxes. Down with Obama

Broke, wait till 2011 when Cap and Trade comes into effect. You know, the one for the scam called global warming comes from? Figure and additional $1400 per home. I understand its already passed the house. We can only hope republicans get control of the senate. Al Gore will be so happy and richer....Al? Where did he go?

Got news for all you good folks--$1.99 for gas to heat your home is gone for 2010. People are already struggling and the companies KNOW you have to have heat of some source. The ones in charge should be ashamed. It is a sad econonmic forecast at my place. The so-called experts should stop by sometime and let me show 'em.

Don't understand the outrage. Obama promised that under his plan utility rates would go way up. Seems this is one promise he is keeping. The people voted for change and this is what you get. Remember this next time you vote.

Unfortunately Matt if the envirowackos have their way, us being able to burn wood will be outlawed due to the pollution it creates and the trees that are cut. As long as a FEW use wood for heating purposes it will stay under the radar, so keep it down, for all our sakes. But let the right envirowacko take this as his/her pet issue then those days are numbered; that's why we have to get rid of obama and his entire staff. We're lucky the issue has not been brought up yet.
