Census Bureau Kicks Off Once-A-Decade Head Count

The Census Bureau is launching a campaign to prod the nation's more than 300 million residents to fill out their once-a-decade census forms.

Director Robert Groves will unveil a 46-foot trailer in New York City dubbed "Mail It Back." Thirteen of the vehicles will show up at about 800 events around the country, including the Super Bowl and the NCAA Final Four.

Letters will be sent out in early March to notify people that the census forms will follow between March 15-17. The 10-question form is one of the shortest in the history of the census.

Those who don't fill it out can expect a follow-up post card and finally an in-person visit from a census worker.

In the Gulf Coast region, this year's census will provide the most accurate measure to date of how Hurricanes Katrina and Rita affected population trends.

I think we need to fill out the census forms but only fill in the information that the constitution requires.I fwe get back to the constitution the country can and will turn around. if employers were fined 1000 dollars a day for hiring and rental agencies were fined 1000 per day for giving them housing and hospital were fined 1000 per day for treating illegals then people would stop giving to them, they would have to go home.....hit people in the pocket book and things will change.

The Constitution requires a physical count ONLY. Not my number, race, etc.... Not filling it out is just an idea that would get their attention, but the majority must participate. Remember, 'together we stand'. IMO, its time to start doing alot more to get the attention of the politicians.

Remember during the 80's when you didn't see hardly any illegal immigrants (spanish mainly)? In grocery stores, shoe stores, banks, schools etc. Well as soon as Slick Willy & Hillary won the election & presidency in 92, that's when illegal immigrants flocked in by the hundreds of thousands spreading across our country. They wanted that to happen and allowed it to help them and many other liberal radical to gain power through voting booths. The Clinton's paved the way for the destruction of our country, morally & economically. Pelosi, Reid and the others have are just as much the blame. Heck, that's who helped them get in office! Now we have 30-40 million thanks to the corrupt democratic party. America better stand up and get rid of the traitors holding offices of leadership. I see it coming in 2010 & 2012!!!

Back of G-vill: Just what will not filing a census report accomplish? Not only will account for the number of people in this country, it also sets the number of representatives (both house and senate) in Washington D.C.. Look at your local voting district, see how those boundary line seem to go in all different direction with no real reason, minority vote is the reason.

To Tha Judge - actually, you'd be surprised at how many illegals do fill it out every time it comes around. The reason this is separate from tax filing is because it's not about your income & funds returned to you. It's a demographic chart for location, race, age, & marital status. That's partly info not included in your tax paperwork & handled by a completely different agency. This is incidentally how we have that neat ability to look up on the net what the statistics are for different regions during different time periods. This has been around for a very long time so why is anyone acting like it's a new procedure? Unless you're maybe 16 or younger, you've seen it before and would remember it.

LOL wow... Ok, here it is: First, be glad it's supposed to be the shortest ever. They were *trying* for a while to add a bunch of controversial questions that are not their business to ask, and it was a huge debate. Even some politicians were adamantly stating they would NOT give out the extra info, but only what the law required. There's the rub... the law does require you to fill this out. They won't just leave & not bother you again if you tell them to go away - realize you can get into serious trouble trying that (just so ya know). Idc about filling it out. I do. I consider it an opportunity to remind them I'm native, not white. They've messed that whole section up so much anyway in previous decades. Next.. moving doesn't make a bit of difference. Do you use your SSN for anything, anywhere? Bank acct, cards, school, utilities, rental, insurance, voting, loans, etc? Yeah. Believe me, they know where you live. I say fill it out and let them know you're amongst the legal residents.

Now why should we do this if we file taxes. Don't the Gov. know who we are.Just some more wasted money. Illegals certainly are not going to fill it out.

This nation is a melting pot waiting for Gods wrath which will come upon it very soon. See: http://chinesearecoming.com/americainprophecy.php Speaking prophesy concerning the United States of America in the last days (nation with wings-verse 1 in Isaiah Chapter 18). The inhabitants have flooded our borders and will continue to steal & plummet our goods through our economy. Lets take back our country before it's too late.

My question is...How do they know everyone (family or group of people living together) will receive one? I've moved four times in the last decade, how do they know where to send me one? How will they know I didn't return one back? Does the USPS have something to do with distributing and tracking everyone down? I don't get it.
