Silver Alert Cancelled

A Silver Alert issued on Christmas Eve has been cancelled.

The Sampson County Sheriff's Office cancelled the alert for Jerome Scotchskee Hardy.

There is no word why the alert was cancelled.

Citizens are asked to be on the lookout for Jerome Scotchskee Hardy, who officials say is believed to be suffering from dementia or some other cognitive impairment.

Anyone with information about Jerome Scotchskee Hardy should call the Sampson County Sheriff's Office at 910-592-4141.

Authorities say Hardy is 25 years old, black, weighs 275 pounds and is 5'11" with black hair and brown eyes.

He was last seen wearing a brown Hoodie, red v-neck sweater, white shirt, black pants and black shoes.

He was last seen at Juniper Springs Group Home at 153 Springs Lane in Ivanhoe.

    Perhaps "Silver Alert" refers to adults regardless of age. I suppose a 25 year old would be considered an adult, don't you think???

    Who needs to be contacted to petition them to change the name of an alert for a non child from "silver alert" to something else. "Silver alert" conjures images of the elderly, not a 25 year old man. It is aggrivating
