I believe that any citizen should be able to walk down any street in town and feel safe without crime. If not the police are not doing their job. Police should be on foot everywhere and plain clothes cops should be out on the streets at night. Move the traffic cops back to fighting crime by public posting a $500 fine for speeding in town and the closing of bars permanetly who allow customers to be drunk and drive. Minimum sentence of 30 days in jail for being DWI effective on arrest. The cops are doing a great job but its not enough. Also, felons would not be allowed to move back here after jail which usually leads to influencing young people to follow their ways. Change the law, 10 years for using a gun, 20 years if fired, life if someone is hurt. Florida has the law and it is posted on bill boards throughout the state. Add solitary confinement for first year in jail, no visitors.
