Children's Hooded Sweatshirts Recalled

About 12,000 children's hooded sweatshirts distributed by a Virginia company are being recalled because the drawstrings pose a strangulation hazard.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Sunsations Inc. of Virginia Beach announced the recall Thursday.

The recall involves children's hooded sweatshirts sizes 2T through 12 sold in various solid colors. The style numbers are KD102, KD124 and DFS102.

The sweatshirts were sold at Sunsations stores in Virginia Beach, Ocean City, Maryland and North Carolina from April 2006 through July 2009. The cost at about $13.

No injuries have been reported. The commission urged consumers to remove the drawstrings from the sweatshirts or return them to the store for a full refund.

Again with the stupification/sissification of America. Thanks, libs. Let's recall drawstring sweatshirts because the child is too stupid to tie it properly. Meanwhile, North Korea is laughing at us because we coddle children. "It's ok, honey, we'll sue." Bah. When I was a child in the late 40's we played with scrap from the landfill. If you even had store-bought clothes and not hand-me-downs, they were made with asbestos. Now these kids wear some sissy shirt, probably with the gay-marriage sponsoring Sponge Bob on them and parade around up and down the high street yackin on their cell phone. We played with tin cans and wore carcinogens. If a kid died, you'd bury him in the back field. Natural selection, not Happy Meals and plush dolls made America strong.

as someone who deals with the CPSC regularly, i can tell you that the reason these were recalled is probably very minor in the grand scheme of things. they have recalled sweatshirts because they have drawstrings on them. Technically, yes, drawstrings can be a choking hazard, but it's a little hypersensitive if you ask me. I would imagine it's the same kind of thing here. The idea of outlawing drawstrings is just ridiculous to me.

It is a wonder that any of us 50 or older are still alive. No helmet on bikes, rode in the front seat of vehicles and bed of pickups. We survived lead paint, we even ran and played and fell down and skinned our knees. Guess things were not as dangerous back then as they are now.
