Ohio Serial Killer Suspect Pleads Insanity

A registered sex offender accused of killing 11 women and leaving their remains in and around his Cleveland home has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity to all charges.

Fifty-year-old Anthony Sowell was arraigned Thursday by video hook-up from jail.

Sowell was indicted Tuesday on 85 charges, including murder, rape, assault and corpse abuse. He is accused of murdering 11 women and could get the death penalty if convicted of any of the killings.

Ten bodies and a skull were found at his Cleveland home. On Wednesday, FBI agents with cadaver dogs searched another house where Sowell lived before going to prison for 15 years for a 1989 attempted rape. No bodies were found.

A prosecutor asked for bond in the amount of $14 million, but the judge ordered Sowell held without bond.

Yeah Nancy, whenever the President speaks the hair stands up on the back of my neck. Is that the same thing?

Now yall, he is an American and he has due rights afforded him by our glorious constitution. Please don't be so judgemental. Give this poor fellow the benifit of a fair and impartial trial. All of you want to execute him. What a shame. Two wrongs don't make a right. 20 years in a mental health treatment program would more than likely do him wonders and he could finally be a productive citizen. O, by the way, how about our great President. He is so wonderful. Everytime he speaks I get goose bumps. LOL love everybody now, especially the ones amoung us who are less fortunate and depends on our great welfare system. Please consider donating your money to them. They need it so bad to continue purchasing their treatments such as medical marijuana. I just love these people. They inspire me everyday.

A plea of insanity only extends the trial period by 4 or 5 years, since he looks like he is in his 50s, he will die of old age in the court system with no conviction.

I've always had a serious issue with this plea. "Not Guilty" to me means "didn't do it". It's a gross abuse of technicalities in definition to say well, they physically committed the crime but because they're deranged there is no real culpability here. PLEASE! Incidentally, "usmc" he can't claim PTSD and "insanity" in the same breath on this. PTSD as Im sure you know has nothing to do with a person's level of sanity and in fact is a sign that the individual's coping mechanisms are in proper working order. This creature is not functioning normally, that much is clear. I gotta go back to what Chris said a while back... all we should hear in a courtroom setting on cases like this is, "BANG! ....Next case." No repeat offenders. Y'know?

And don't forget he is a former United States Marine so therefore they will probably claim that he has PTSD

YES...WE ALL KNOW THAT THE GUY IS INSANE. A 'NORMAL' PERSON WOULD NOT COMMIT SUCH ACTS. NOW...WHAT DO WE DO? REMEMBER...THE BIBLE..."EYE FOR AND EYE"

Pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity to all charges. According to the way this country does thing he should be out on the streets in no time.

So what if he is insane. He should die for his crime. Does that make the family of the victims feel any better because he is a nut, their daughter is still dead and the way those ladies last moment on earth had to be horrible. I don't care if he is insane or not he should die and die soon. There is no need to waste money treating him or housing him. Right is Right and Wrong is Wrong no matter what HIS metal state is.

That's an admission of guilt, don't waste our tax money on him, use 1 bullet and end it. We (tax payers) have enough to pay for as it is!!!
