Conference USA Championship Game A Boost To Greenville Economy

Hotels and other businesses in Greenville are gearing up for a big weekend with the ECU Pirates hosting the Conference USA Championship game Saturday.

At the Hampton Inn, they only have 25 rooms left for Friday and are sold out Saturday.

At the Holiday Inn Express the sales director says the phone has been ringing off the hook. Kristin Brown says "Usually December is a little bit slower so we're excited to host this game and bring in revenue for not only our hotel but the entire city."

The Pirates Host the Houston Cougars Saturday at noon.

"Sounds like Greenville is welcoming crime, drugs, shootings and robbery. Hopefully they have enough police on duty, because this game will bring nothing but arrests." Let's apply this same logic to Christmas "Shlonson". Reported crimes increase during the Christmas holiday season which by the way last much longer than 1 football game. I guess we better cancel the Christmas holiday season too. That way Greenville won't "welcome" higher crime. Your rebuttal?

J, I love it. I wonder myself where some of these people get their information. Some of their statements are just as funny as a good joke.

I have to admit that coming here and reading some of these posts has made my night. I loved this post.. "This game better help Greenville's economy because Pitt County is the second poorest one in the state." BWAHAHAAH....thank you Tim H for an utterly false statement, I needed a good laugh! I loved this statement too " What a waste of tax payers' funds!" Posted so factually by "Pitt has higher taxes" (which by the way is an interesting name..parents not like you or something?) It's those same tax payer funds that go back into the community there genius! It's the same tax money that gets recirculated back to the hundreds of people EMPLOYED by the college! Drop out or not; tuition has been collected. Not to mention rent, food, clothes etc.. Please keep these hilarious posts coming..I can't wait to see whats next!!

Hi Dave. I believe that you forgot a comma or a colon (the punctuation, not the anatomy reference) after "Mods Nightmare" in your 7:44pm post. What would I know though; you're the literary "scholar". As you were saying...?.

Dear Pitt has higher taxes, let's see, I was at the game last Saturday, and the previous Saturday, and the one previous to that. I was all over Greenville following the game on all occasions for several hours each occasion. Where exactly were "all these drunk drivers" you are talking about, AND the traffic cleared out pretty much within 1.5 hours following the conclusion of the game. Please do take your shopping elsewhere so you can safely be away from all those hundreds of drunk drivers that don't exist, and for God's sake, remove yourself from the dangers of Pirate Fans from all over the state and surrounding states, they are just too dangerous for you. Also, ECU does not have a provost, they have a chancellor, do your homework please. Why don't you and CJ go to Chapel Hill or Raleigh and do your shopping please, you probably drive too slow for us anyways..and please, PLEASE enlighten us how dropout rates and "waste of taxpayers funds" are connected. It affects parents not you.

High you so called know it all's, ya ever stop to think a portion of those transferred elsewhere? I didn't think so, it's easier to complain.
