Those dangers were evident from an accident on Fire Tower road in Greenville Wednesday night. Authorities say the accident sent one person to the hospital, but fortunately, there were no severe injuries.
AAA Carolinas expects about 1 million people to drive 50 miles or more this Thanksgiving holiday--that's nearly 30,000 more people than last year.
Patrick O'Callaghan with the Greenville Police Department advises people to follow a few simple rules to be safe this holiday. "Slow down, and make sure you're watching ahead. Defensive driving, that's the bottom line. Defensive driving this time of the year with the traffic volume."
AAA Carolinas says even with higher gas prices, more people are hitting the roads.
