Stackhouse Gives Back To Kinston Community

Some in the east got a helping hand Wednesday from a former Tarheel All-American and NBA star.

Jerry Stackhouse came back to his roots in east Kinston and helped his parents and other family members hand out hot meals. It was all part of his 8th annual pre-Thanksgiving celebration and is designed to give back to his hometown.

Stackhouse's family members provide a hot meal for those who would not otherwise be able to enjoy the Thanksgiving experience. Stackhouse says, "It's just been a great place, it was a great place for me to grow up, a great place for me to learn a lot of you know values and morals not only from my parents but other great mentors and leaders in this community. So I'm glad to be one of those mentors and leaders now and hopefully I can continue that trend with the guys that are under me now."

The NBA great helped purchase the House of Hope Church for his mother, Pastor Minnie Stackhouse in 2005.
