NC Woman Gives Birth In Car

A North Carolina woman gave birth in the front seat of her car on the way to the hospital.

The Gaston Gazette reports Saturday that Gricel Mateo of Lincolnton gave birth about two hours after contractions woke her early Thursday.

The mother of a 15-year-old son and 5-year-old daughter says she was in no rush to get to the hospital, until it was too late.

Mateo says her boyfriend, Antonio Paulino, was parked at a stop sign and dialing 911 when her third child was born.

They then got a police escort to the hospital.

Jaydie Paulino was 5 pounds 12 ounces, and 20 1/2 inches long. The mother and daughter are doing well.

Jaydie was born four days before her expected due date.

What's the big deal with the baby being born in a car? It's not the first one every born in a car and probably won't be the last!! I do however agree that it's another one for us to have to support

Great "Another baby for the taxpayer to pay for." I think this is the quote for 2009. Nobody black or hispanic has a job in North Carolina. What a shame all they do is sit on the a** collect a check. Too bad that I am a black single mother with a job and my friend is a white single mother on welfare.

Happy that both baby & mothers are doing well. It did say in the article that the baby's father was Ms. Mateo's BOYFRIEND. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to read between the lines....unwed mother ergo another child on the system paid by taxpayers.

I must have read a different article, Not sure how you can get all that from this article. I guess for people just to be compassionate has gone out the window in 2009, maybe you can find it again in 2010

Maybe this family works for a living. I know white, blacks and hispanics on the so called "free" lunch. Freebies are not a race they are a social status.
