CANTON, N.C. -- The Amazing Grace Baptist Church in Canton, N.C. will celebrate Halloween by burning Bibles that aren’t the King James Version, as well as music and books and anything else Pastor Marc Grizzard says is a satanic influence.

Among the authors whose books Grizzard plans to burn are well known ministers Rick Warren and Billy Graham because he says they have occasionally used Bibles other than the King James Version, which is the sole biblical source he considers infallible.

According to the church’s Web site, members will also burn “Satan's music such as country, rap, rock, pop, heavy metal, western, soft and easy, southern gospel, contemporary Christian, jazz, soul (and) oldies.

“We will also be burning Satan's popular books written by heretics like Billy Graham, Rick Warren, Bill Hybels, John McArthur, James Dobson, Charles Swindoll, John Piper, Chuck Colson, Tony Evans, Oral Roberts, Jimmy Swagart, Mark Driskol, Franklin Graham, Bill Bright, Tim Lahaye, Paula White, T.D. Jakes, Benny Hinn, Joyce Myers, Brian McLaren, Robert Schuller, Mother Teresa, The Pope, Rob Bell, Erwin McManus, Donald Miller, Shane Claiborne, Brennan Manning (and) William Young.

During the book burning, according to the Web site, barbecued chicken fried chicken and “all the sides” will be served

dont take this too far these people are doing that. i agree with them i think some of the people they spoke of are more of doing a show than serving GOD however i think that its not their place to burn any holy bible. i think they should let GOD judge these people. "love the sinner hate the sin". how bout we try and live our life for GOD and not worry what others do. THIS IS NOT ALL CHRISTIANS SO U GUYS TRY NOT TO JUDGE ALL CHRISTIANS BY WHAT THIS CHURCH DOES.

Don't look for the "mercyseat" in the NIV - GONE! Don't look for "Jehovah" in the NIV - GONE! Don't look for the "Godhead" in the NIV - GONE! The NIV removes wonderful Bible "terms" like remission, regeneration, impute, propitiation, new testament and many others! Despite God's clear warnings about "taking away" from His words - the NIV removes 64,576 words! Over 8 percent of God's word is "TAKETH AWAY"!

As an American I am offended by this stunt. As a southerner it just really ticks me off. It is often difficult to be a southerner. I almost need a translator to order breakfast west of Arkansas. No matter where you go, people will say, "OOOOOh, your 'southern'" and they mock our accent, what? Does it make it easier to communicate when they think they are speaking like us?. They act as if being southern explains everything about us as a culture, a group or individual. To me it is the equivalent of us saying "Well bless his heart" about an ugly baby. To paraphrase Jeff Foxworthy, "When anything bad happens You know they will put the most ignorant amongst us on TV"

This church like many others got exactly what it wanted.(ATTENTION) Let them burn their bibles and maybe the fire will spread to their church. Then the true christians well forgive them and help them rebuild.

Isn't America a wonderful place, we have a right to commit such ignorant actions and not be detained by mental health professionals? You should be ashamed of yourselves! Your time and energy could be better spent over in Rocky Mt. helping to look for the three women who are still missing, or helping the families of our millitary that are deployed fighting for your freedom to burn books! Why stir up hate and act so ignorant? Start with a few simple history lessons. The KJV is a compilation of Jewish and Christian books. Many books were left out in this process. The men who aranged this compilation did not know how to translate the origional works and had to guess at many of the meanings and phrases, therefore changing the whole context of the story by getting one word wrong. The Reverand Grizzard is evil personafied and his followers are a dangerous crowd... I wonder, what will you burn next? Crosses in your neighbors yard or you feet in Hell's fire?

Sounds more like a cult than a church.
