Perdue Establishes Offshore Energy Panel

An offshore energy advisory panel has been set up in North Carolina.

The group, set up by Governor Beverly Perdue, will examine energy resources off the state's coast. That will include oil, gas and wind.

"The North Carolina coast is home to an abundance of natural resources - some of which have the potential to be tapped as energy sources. As we research this potential for national and state use, I intend to make sure sound science and a thorough examination of the risks and benefits drive our decisions," said Perdue.

The panel will analyze and report on the feasibility of tapping offshore energy sources, and identify the benefits and areas of concern about these energy resources.

If there was drilling off the NC coast then there should be a refinery built here in NC. That way the fuels will not need to be shipped to the Gulf Coast. This would create jobs and save money.

This is not about needing a panel to study this, its about her having an excuse to do it so she can blame it on the panel. Then she can still appease the environmental groups by saying she really had no choice. That is why they will examine WIND use. I say drill for the oil, gas and even set up some wind turbines, BUT don't use it for national use, just NC citizens!!! Pumpkin at her best!!!

It doesn't take a panel to use a common sense whatever it takes to eliminate our dependence on foreign oil....environmentalists need to take a back seat & shut up on this one..

Whenever a politician doesn't know what to do, or can't make a decision, they resort to panels, commissions, or staff studies. Drill for oil and gas so we can cut off the Saudis! What so hard about that and it didn't cost a nickel for a panel?? The environmental-nazi's are killing us!!!!
