NC Attorney General Comments On Edgecombe Search

Authorities broke their silence for the first time Thursday about an on-going search in Edgecombe County and say they have found no new victims.

Thursday was day two on a search in rural Edgecombe County near where several women have been found dead. Two dozen law officers from multiple agencies combed through the thick woods.

People who live near the scene are worried about what is happening in their community. Felecia Sharpe say, "It's just so dangerous out here. Everybody needs to be aware of what's going on and watch your surroundings."

Law enforcement won't say what exactly they're searching for -- but North Carolina Attorney General Roy Cooper says he's up to date on the situation and says staying quiet--is imperative. "Sometimes if information gets out, it could cause a potential problem in us being able to find the perpetrator. So, trust me, our SBI agents are working very hard and working hundreds of hours to find the perpetrator in this situation."

Sheriff Knight says there is no telling how long the search will last, or where their next area of interest may be.
