More than 1,000 people opposed to broad federal government intervention in health care gathered in Raleigh to hear President Obama's speech to Congress.
The conservative watchdog group Americans for Prosperity sponsored an event Wednesday night at the State Fairgrounds that included a rally before Obama's address. Obama is trying to get an overhaul of the health care system back on track.
Charlotte Mayor Pat McCrory was one of the speakers. He said he wasn't opposed to health care reform but was against passing a bad bill that would spend too much money.
Pro-Obama forces nationwide and in North Carolina are holding "watch parties" at homes and restaurants to view the speech.
