The Navy says it's delaying the release of it's environmental impact study for potential outlying landing field sites, including two in Eastern Carolina.
The Navy has been studying sites in both Camden and Gates counties for an OLF, where jets can practice take-offs and landings. Three sites in Virginia are being considered as well. The Navy says they must delay the environmental impact statement until they know whether Naval Air Station Oceana will become the homebase of the F-35C Navy Joint Strike Fighter.
