Stove Recall

This recall involves Frigidaire, Frigidaire Gallery, Frigidaire Professional and Kenmore Elite Smoothtop Electric Ranges with rotary knobs and digital displays. Depending on the model, the surface heating elements turn on spontaneously, fail to turn off after being switched off, or heat to different temperatures than selected.

Frigidaire has received 126 reports of such incidents.

The recalled stoves were sold at Sears and other national chain and independent retailers from June 2001 through August 2009.

Consumers should stop using the ranges immediately and contact Frigidaire at (800) 449-9812 to schedule a free repair. You can also visit the recall website at www.smoothtoprangerecall.com

Consumers who purchased their products at Sears should call Sears at (800) 449-9810

We have a Fridgidaire stove, model #FEFL79Fcc, that will not turn off or turn down and is not on the recall list. It's so bad now that we are going to have to buy another stove. It was just doing it sometimes but now it does it all the time. This is by far the worst stove ever and we would never buy another Fridgidaire product of any kind. This stove is dangerous!!

I to have a stove that will turn on by itself and not turn off. Model PLEC36S9ECC. Everyone in this situation should submit a report with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission. These reports should result in an expansion of the recall. http://www.cpsc.gov/talk.html

MY FRIGIDAIRE IS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST. THE STOVE AND THE STOVE LIGHT DOES NOT GO OFF. IT IS HEATING AT A LOW TEMPERATURE BUT WILL NOT GO OFF. WHAT RECOURSE DO I HAVE?

Our Sears glass top range has a feature where the light will stay on above the knob, even when in the 'off' position, to make you aware that the element is still hot...it is only a warning device so you don't touch it or place anything on it. Once it has cooled, the light will go out. Hope this helps relieve some of your angst.

My stove is a Frigidaire and it also stays on when turned off and heats at differnt tempatures than the know is set at. My stoves model number is also not on the list. I am now on hold waiting to speak to someone. Maybe if enough people complain about their stoves that are not on the list somthing will then be done.

I put in my stove's serial number...mine has not been recalled either; stays on and go figure, takes forever to heat up...so much for quality!!

I hope you have better luck than I do with the above numbers.. I called and after waiting 25 minutes on hold I was told that my flattop kenmore that stays on even with the switch in the off position did not fall under the recall list.. Maybe after the house burns down they will recall the model number of my stove!
