Booze It And Lose It

Highway Patrol this past week celebrated the 15th anniversary of its "Booze It and Lose It" campaign.

Expect sobriety check points throughout the state as part of its anti- drunk driving campaign.

Troopers will be using breath alcohol testing units better known as Batmobiles to process DWI enforcement and education.

The campaign started Friday and will end on September 7th.

I make sure to thank the officer(s) every time I go through these checkpoints. If I didn't have somewhere to be and the extra cash, I'd be tempted to offer them all a round of fresh coffee, e.g. from the nearest Trade Mart. Too many drunk drivers on the roads as it is. Alcohol can be a fun distraction when you're young, but if it takes precedence over safety, you've officially become an alcoholic and represent some of the worst people in this state (and country), and need to seek help before you hurt or kill yourself, someone you love, a complete stranger, or God forbid, a child. @ace - Somebody has to and my hat's off to those who do. As for sleazy lawyers, to be fair, prosecution must prove guilt beyond reasonable doubt. If they can't do that, the defendant must be let go, even if they're guilty. Far worse to imprison a good person falsely than to set a criminal free.

I don't understand how Highway Patrolmen can do their job day after day when they arrest someone for breaking the law and then lawyers and judges let the offenders back out on the street to do it again. Why make a law when the judicial systems trys to circomvent it be for it get posted for enforcement.

why don't they just state that it is for the start of school and the labor day weekend? law enforcement always tries to make out that the public is stupid
