NC Judge Rules Suspect In Deadly Street Racing Crash Can Go To Church

A North Carolina judge has ruled that a South Carolina woman under house arrest awaiting trial for a deadly street racing crash in April can attend church.

The Charlotte Observer reported that a judge ruled Thursday that Carlene Atkinson, age 44, cannot drive but can attend church and go to medical appointments.

The former Sunday School teacher and vacation Bible school director from Lake Wylie, S.C., is accused of racing 20-year-old Tyler Stasko at speeds up to 100 mph on a North Carolina highway.

The race resulted in three deaths when Stasko's car crashed into another car killing the driver, a 45-year-old college professor, her 2-year-old daughter and a 13-year-old passenger in Stasko's car.

Atkinson's car wasn't involved in the crash, but she and Stasko are both charged with murder.

I just thought I'd point out that she hasn't been convicted yet. So she will get punished if convicted. She is awaiting trial.

What about the victims? Do they get to do anything anymore? No. I know forgivness wins in this case but it disturbs me to know that she will not get punshiment for this.

She obviously doesn't have the intellegence or maturity to go to church if she is street racing at 44 years old. She needs to go to church and they have church services in jails and prisons. She should not be on house arrest, but in jail. Her actions contributed to a death, where innocent people were killed. I guess next she will want to go to the beauty parlor, crack house and local bar, or maybe the auto parts store. Take her off house arrest and put her in jail!!!

I just wonder why a 44 year old woman was street racing anyway? What was she driving....a minivan?

I think it is great that she wants to attend church. If half of the people in this world would want to go to church as badly as her then maybe we could have some peace. Thank goodness our God is a forgiving God!

She needs to go to church to ask everyone pray that she gets some common-sense....something she obviously does not have if she's racing on the road.

While she is at church, she should pray that with all the problems Johnny Edwards is having that he doesn't come out of "retirement" to support his own legal problems. On second thought, he may be too busy helping his buddy Mike Easley......
