The next time you take out some trash you may want to think twice about what you threw in there.
That's because starting October first there's a new state rule that bans throwing away motor oil filters, plastic bottles, and wooden pallets into the regular trash and landfills.
Instead they want you to recycle them. Officials say there won't be fines if you don't do it though, because they aren't officially enforcing the rule.
But they do hope it makes people more aware of what they're throwing out.
The new rule is meant to help reach the State Governments goal of achieving an annual recovery rate of two million tons of recycling by 2012.
