Edwards May Soon Admit Paternity

The man who once represented North Carolina in the US Senate and ran for president of the United States could admit he is the father of a child of a former mistress and campaign worker.

Last August, Edwards admitted to having an affair with Rielle Hunter, a woman who served as a videographer on his 2008 presidential campaign. Edwards has denied fathering Hunter's now 18-month old daughter. Sources say Edwards' public admission that he is the father could come as early as today, according to WRAL. A federal grand jury is investigating whether campaign funds were used illegally to pay Hunter to stay quiet about the affair.

Hunter recently spent nine hours at a federal courthouse in Raleigh where the grand jury was meeting, she had her daughter with her.
