Congressman Jones Touts Military Reading Program

Coping with loved ones heading off to war is never an easy thing, especially if you're a child. Now, there's a new way to help kids and families do that.

Reach and Read is a national effort to get military families reading again. Tuesday, Congressman Walter Jones made a stop at the Naval Hospital aboard Camp Lejeune to show the importance of why reading is so beneficial.

Jones read four books to young children. Young military children receive free books to take home during their doctors visits. It's all about encouraging children and their military parents to bond, and read together.

The Reach and Read military initiative was launched in 2008 to extend the early literacy program to military families.
