North Carolina Lawmakers Delayed In Reviewing State Budget

North Carolina legislators can expect a run-down of the two-year state budget hashed out after weeks of negotiations but may have to wait longer for their own copies

Legislative budget-writers on Monday met to review details of the month-late budget bill. Negotiators were making sure the language matches the details they agreed to on Friday.

A late wrinkle included discovery that public universities planned to make scholarships to needy students that were $12 million more than the General Assembly planned to spend. Negotiators said the extra money would have to come from shaving the margin for error on the $19 billion budget to just about $10 million.

The House and Senate plan votes on the budget package Tuesday
and Wednesday.

June first is when these Legislators are supposed to have thier JOB done. That means they are 64 days LATE (as of NOW!), for the most important function that they have, and they CAN NOT even do this one thing properly. If I were 64 days late doing a job, I wouldn't have a job!!!! These "people" are out of control nutz, they are voting on smoking issues, cell phones, and plastic bags on the beach. If we re-elect even ONE of these bafoons, we will be the fools. But, in a year they'll throw out a bone, by giving some community a park or build a road to no where and the electorate will go ga-ga over them and put them right back in. Wake up people, wake up and pay attention to who you vote for next time. OK my blood pressure medicine is kickin' in, I'll be alright now. Buzz-
