'Extreme Home Makeover' Searches For North Carolina Home To Redo

The popular TV reality series "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" is looking for a North Carolina family to feature on an episode.

The News & Record of Greensboro reported that nominations can be
made either by family members themselves or by someone in their
community.

Candidates must own the property they live in and demonstrate why they are "deserving, heroic and/or a great role model for their community."

The series follows teams of designers, contractors and volunteers as they raise a home in under a week. The family gets a weeklong vacation during that time.

The deadline for nominations is Aug. 7. The show featured two
North Carolina families last season.

Those interested in nominating someone can e-mail castingnorthcarolina@gmail.com or print out an application at

I count it an honor to nominate Charitina (Tina) Jones who has for years raised and cared for her children and those of family members whose life styles made it impossible for them to raise their own childrem. She has faced many struggles in order to care for theses children. Recently, her sister, the mother of some of the children died of of AIDS. Tina's home is in GREAT need of major repairs. She is a single mom with one income. Even though she struggles, being a mother to these children and keeping them out of foster care is very important to her. For many years, she did not know her own mother! She deserves a break. PLEASE HELP.

I met Margarette Whitaker about 3 years ago. She is absolutely the sweetest, most beautiful spirit you could ever come across! I nominate her to be on your show because I've been to her home, and I think that she and her son deserve a home makeover. She would be so grateful and beside herself if selected, and your show would truly be showcasing one of the true "GEMS" of the S.E. Raleigh community. Btw, I love what your show stands for, and I'm confident that whomever you select will be extremely deserving. Thank yu for considering my nomination!

My grandmother, Margarette Whitaker, is a pillar of society in her community. She was a teacher for over 30 years, & a member of several prominent organizations that cater to the communities in which she has lived. Not only was she an excellent teacher, but she won the award for, "Teacher of the Year," in Rochester, NY in the late 70's. She has touched so many lives over the years, & has such a way with the children and their parents in the community. People always come by to check on her and bring her gifts of appreciation, such as flowers and her favorite sweets. She regularly attends church & tries to keep herself busy by volunteering for her sorority (Alpha Kappa Alpha) as the person who keeps the sisters of the organization informed whenever someone is sick or has passed away. This job was created for her because she can no longer afford to pay her dues after my grandfather passed. She sends out all of the "Get Well" cards & letters of condolence for families of the deceased.

I love what you do and seeing the joy on the families faces is amazing. I want my home to be done over. My husband will not do it. I want to finally be proud to have people in my home. But if I am not chosen then please help the ones you do chose. God Bless you all.
