Work-Release Inmate Escapes In Bagel Truck

Authorities are searching for a work-release inmate who escaped Friday night in a bagel truck.

Multiple media outlets say that Roderick Lee Baldwin, 45, was working at a bagel shop when he took off. North Carolina Department of Corrections spokesman Keith Acree says Baldwin stole $400 and a
white van with Alpine Bagel written on the side.

Baldwin was serving a maximum 15-year sentence as a convicted habitual felon at the Orange Correctional Center. He was scheduled for release in 2011.

Corrections records say Baldwin escaped custody in 1989 when he was serving 5 years for breaking-and-entering and fraud convictions.

Lets call up Bev Perdodo and see if she can come help look for him. If so many DOC jobs were not cut maybe he wouldn't have been able to escape.
