A crop-duster pilot died Friday night when his plane crashed while practicing in Perquimans County.
Sheriff Eric Tilley said the pilot was 37-year-old Jonathan Wilson of Hertford, according to The Daily Advance of Elizabeth City.
Tilley said Wilson was practicing using a single-engine thrush crop-duster before the airplane crashed into a cornfield. Tilley said Perquimans EMS personnel found Wilson dead at the scene.
The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration were notified of the accident. Tilley says the FAA plans to send in two investigators Monday.
