Murder Victim's Mother Fears There's A Serial Killer

The family of the fifth person found dead in the same vicinity in Rocky Mount fears a serial killer may be in the area.

Jarniece Hargrove was first reported missing in May. Then last Monday Edgecombe County sheriff's deputies found skeletal remains off Seven Bridges road in Rocky Mount later identified as Hargrove.

This is the fifth body to be found within five years off Seven Bridges road. All of the victims were black women.

The family says it fear a serial killer is responsible and someone else could be next. Patsy Hargrove, Jarniece's mother says, "My search isn't over till the killer has been found, who did this to all these girls, we most definitely have a serial killer in our area and we need to find him."

Edgecombe County Sheriff James Knight is not saying whether the crimes may be connected. He said there is a task force investigating the murders.

WITN, I have to agree with Jim/blogger. I also left a comment on here and it never got posted. There was nothing in it that was bad or rude or anything. I was simply stating the truth. I think you really need to be more fair about what you post on here. There are post that were mean or nasty and you post those....I mean what about the comment: Posted by: Anonymous on Jul 8, 2009 at 11:32 PM Somebody's killing crackheads? You posted that but now something about how rude people are being? What is up with that?

As a white, professional woman, I could care less what type of activities these women were involved in. They were all loved. How dare any of you judge these women! "But for the grace of God, there go I!" It is obvious we have a serial killer in our midst. Do you think because the victims are not prominent members of society their lives are meaningless? I do not care what their mugshots look like, in my eyes, they are are beautiful women. With that being said, LEO, get off your a**es and do something before this idiot strikes again! If it is out of your investigative realm, please do not hesitate to ask for Federal assistance. Just because the women perhaps, were not pillars of society, that does not mean they were not loved. They too, were once precious babies, celebrated and rocked to sleep by their mothers!

It is hard to find a picture of a crackhead that makes the crackhead look like something other than a crackhead.

In away I agree with anonymous..I wouldn't of post that up here but he/she do have a point..I'm not trying to be mean but we all can see that theses are mudshots of the decease women..Everdently theses are such women of the night..(nicely putting it) I'm not trying to leave mean comments but come-on people..Open your eyes..I think the police should let us know how they are related. So,if my theory is true,it could be a wake-up call for theses promiscuous women.Any or Everybody..What I want to know is theses young ladies being rape before being murder.Rocky Mount is very close to Raleigh..

How classless was it to post such an unflattering photograph of the decedent on your website with such an insensitive caption. I'm sure Ms. Hargrove's family would have appreciated a little more sensitivity, as would I.

I live within about 5 miles of the road in which the bodies have been discovred. I am a friend if the victim's family. Something should be done about the situtaiton. I believe that its the same person the had committed the crimes. Police need to step up their game and sweep the entire area. There is not telling what is out there. Hargroves body is like the 3rd body that they have found in a 6 months time. Now doesnt that sound like something need to be done to help those fmaily get over their loved ones and to protect the other potential victims.

Well, after my first week of visiting these comment pages, I am intrigued by all the different view points about the news stories. I am learning different perspectives by a diverse group of people. I wonder if I meet some of you 'face to face' occasionally? In regards to that, I have to say that in my daily exchanges with the general public, most folks are very polite, nice, and helpful. I speak of all races, store clerks, customers, people in parking lots, businesses, etc. I have come to the conclusion that all opinions are important, whether I agree or not. It helps to see how other human beings feel. Thanks WITN for this opportunity to get a 'snapshot' of my community's feelings and opinions. It does matter to me.
