NC Bill To Make Laws Gender-Neutral

Now that there's a female governor, North Carolina legislators are interested in looking at whether state law and the constitution should be cleaned up with gender-neutral language.

The House gave final legislative approval Monday night to a
Senate bill directing a state panel to examine the law books and
make recommendations. The Legislature would have to approve any
actual changes, while any tinkering to the constitution would have
to be approved by voters.

Rep. Deborah Ross of Wake County said that while Gov. Beverly
Perdue is female, the governor is referred throughout the
constitution as a "he." She said bill drafters already try to use
gender-neutral language.

The measure now goes to Perdue's desk for her signature.

Mzzzzzzz.Ross is to busy trying not to let the Castle Doctrine bill dare be voted on by the entire political body, by letting it lay idle until it dies so she want go down on the books as the anti-gunner she is. She must have seen this issue as way more important than protecting citizens rights to defend themselves in their on home!!! Way to go MZZZZZZZZZZZZRoss you keep doing that mediocre job you are doing and YOU decide what is best for the rest of us dumb citizens of NC. You have already proved it by letting 2nd amendment rights go out the window by taking no action on reasonable gun issues. You continue to know what is best for us dumba---ses just like Bev. does!!! Govenor he/she/it Bev!!!

Why not just make us all it's and be done with it, think of the savings in building restrooms alone, no more male or female seperation of facilities. All children of all sex will share the same locker rooms at the same time, think of the possibilities.

Stop wasting time and tax dollars on trivial matters. We need to correct whats wrong with the economy, joblessness, crime, global warming etc.

If any person has a problem with how gender is written, then they have to much time on their hands. I am a woman myself, and our forefathers wrote as they saw fit. I wouldn't change a thing, but my additude. It really doesn't matter does it? Get over it and work on something that matters, like our taxes, goverment issues, and things pertaining to our needs. Not the needs of the goverment with high heads.

Glad to know that politicians are tackling this very important issue. It will really help those who have lost jobs, homes and lives. Keep up the good work there in Raleigh.

i agree with you Kimo and Jeff. It looks like they don't know what to do, so they just nit-pick something that doesn't really matter. THIS is what you call "look busy work"!

As a staunch republican, I have no problem with this. Guys: You wouldn't want to be called councilwoman etc would you? documents were written at a time when women could not entertain the thought of political involvement. Granted Bev has been WAY off base on most things, but this...this is fine by me.
