Air Force Commander's Final Flight To Land At Seymour Johnson

An Air Force pilot who has devoted her career to our country will land her retirement flight at a base in North Carolina.

Col. Jeannie Leavitt, 4th Fighter Wing commander, is set to complete her F-15E Strike Eagle landing Thursday at Seymour Johnson Air Base.

Leavitt will be completing a "fini flight," which is a nickname for the final flight taken by an aircrew member at their current assignment.

As part of Air Force tradition, family, friends and Airmen from the wing will be on site as Leavitt is hosed down with water while exiting the aircraft.

Leavitt will relinquish command of the 4th FW to Col. Mark Slocum, 48th Operations Group commander assigned to Royal Air Force Lakenheath in England.

Leavitt's final flight will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Seymour Johnson Base in Goldsboro.
