4 Republicans Now In GOP Race For NC Governor

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) -- There are now four Republicans entered in the GOP primary contest to determine who will represent the party in the race for governor of North Carolina.

Charles Kenneth Moss of Randolph County and Paul Wright of Wayne County joined the GOP race Friday when they filed candidacy papers with the state elections board.

They join Pat McCrory of Charlotte and Fayetteville resident Jim Harney.

The News-Argus of Goldsboro reports (http://bit.ly/zhslfq ) that Wright is a trial lawyer who spent more than 20 years as a District Court and Superior Court judge. He ran for a seat on the state Court of Appeals in 1982 and lost.

Both Wright and Harney believe local government property taxes should be replaced with some other revenue source.

Currently, four candidates have filed to run for the Democratic gubernatorial nomination and one Libertarian candidate has also made plans to run official.
