Man Raped Woman He Met On Craigslist

A North Carolina man has been charged with posing as a police officer and raping a South Carolina woman he met on Craigslist.

Multiple media outlets reported Saturday that 42-year-old Wayne Ford of Charlotte was arrested this week and charged with first-degree rape, kidnapping, sex offense, armed robbery and impersonating a police officer.

Police say a 21-year-old South Carolina woman said she gave her hotel room number to a man answering an ad she posted on Craigslist. The woman said Ford went to her hotel room early Tuesday, showed her a badge and a handgun and then raped and robbed her.

Police would not say what the woman's ad said.

Ford was listed as a jail inmate Saturday. It was not immediately clear if he had an attorney.

Why would anyone be stupid enough to post ads about meeting strangers in hotels? It is either prostitution or complete stupidity. I guess some people may be so ugly that they are desperate or maybe they have some nasty sexual fetish about sex with strangers in hotel rooms. People are strange. When this woman posted her ad she wasn't looking for a game of backgammon. Dumb move, hope she learns from her mistake.

Cat: I understood the article fine. I was asking a sarcastic question when I inquired as to why he as invited to her hotel certainly was not to purchase a car. As you probably know, Craigslist has a section intended for people to seek out sexual encounters. She posted an ad, gave this guy her hotel room address, and he ended coming over. Something doesn't jive with the rape scenario as it is described in the article. You can blatantly overlook it if you like, but that wouldn't be being objective.

Buyer Beware: What are you talking about? He attacked, robbed, & raped her. What is it that he was suppose to have been aware of? Those were probably his intentions when he answered the ad.. I think you misread the story.

Why was he invited to her hotel he could purchase a vehicle she had for sale? Sounds like he got caught up in the same trouble Mike Tyson pulled time for. Guys, you should know at least a little about the person whose hotel room you are about to enter. You may wind up in cuffs a few days later.
