Unemployment continues to rise in North Carolina counties. In May, 82 of the state's 100 counties saw an increase in the number of people out of work.
Among the 18 counties showing a drop in unemployment, Hyde County had the biggest decrease in the state, at 1.1%. Currituck, Dare, Northampton and Tyrrell counties also showed a decrease.
In Eastern Carolina, Pitt & Martin counties experienced the biggest increase in unemployment, with a 1.0% hike. Jones County was up by .8% while Lenoir, Nash, Pasquotank, and Washington counties showed a .7% increase in May.
