The Fourth of July Holiday Weekend is approaching quickly and triple A is projecting that less people will travel this summer because of a bad economy and gas prices.

Triple A said that it expects 37.1 million travelers to take a trip of 50 miles or more away from home this year, that's a decrease of 1.9 percent from last year.

Within the past few weeks gas prices have continued to increase.

Wednesday the average price of unleaded gas in our state is $2.63, a month ago it was $2.36.

Gas prices are actually lower in our state than this time last year, when they were at a whopping $3.97 cents.

This is no surprise. The economy is in the toilet and gas is creeping back up. People are tightening the belt so to speak, cutting out the fat. Wish the gov would do likewise.
