NC Park Service Asking Youth To Help With Programs

The National Park Service says it needs help from youth on the North Carolina Outer Banks as volunteers for this summer's visitor programs.

Spokeswoman Cyndy Holda said there will be a meeting July 2 of young people between 7th and 12th grades who are interested in
volunteering. The meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. at the Lighthouse Keeper's Quarters at the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse.

Volunteers are needed to work at the lighthouse during nighttime climbs and to help rangers teach visitors about sea life. Others will work with teams that are protecting the seashore.

The park service says a parent must accompany teens to the first
