FEDS: Former Congressman Released From Home Confinement

A former congressman from Eastern Carolina completed his federal prison sentence Tuesday morning.

The Federal Bureau of Prisons tells WITN News that Frank Ballance was released at 7:40 a.m. from home confinement.

The Windsor native pleaded guilty in 2004 to diverting $2.3 million in state funds to his family and others through a charitable organization he helped start.

Ballance served in the General Assembly before being elected to Congress in 2002. He resigned in June 2004, citing his ill health.

He was released from prison on March 23, and was wearing an electronic surveillance bracelet that prevented him from leaving his home.

The former congressman will still be on two years of supervised release.

Old Frankie "Boy" should be out picking up litter in Bertie County until he has repaid that 2.3 million. Sad part is, if he ran again, the same "yes we can" supports would vote him right back in just because he is democrat and black.

did the state get the money back? 2.3 million Dollars stolen from North carolina. That's us, folks. And our children are going to suffer because we have to cut back on their education. What has the state of NC come to? 2.3 million dollars will pay many teachers and give the needed technology to get them from being behind other states.

He diverted 2.3 million to himself. Get it, hes just another elitest democrat as most of them are. He could even go into Obamas cabinet, he qualifies. Folks, you don't elect or re elect crooks, don't we have enough in this state already? Sorry Anony, a crook is a crook. So, if I break into your house and steal everything you own, even your childrens toys, you would let it go?

Having been involved in politics for most of my life, I can tell you for a fact that 99.9% of politicians are in it for the money...they are inundated constantly with offers of cash for favors and the temptation is too great....Frank Ballance was not an exception....he's a crook....like the majority of them are.
