NC GOP Holds Election For New Party Chairman

North Carolina's Republican Party is choosing a new leader to help them raise money, recruit candidates and win elections.

GOP activists planned to gather Saturday in Raleigh to elect a new party chairman from among four candidates.

All agree that Republicans must stand for limited government, free enterprise and traditional values. That means the election will likely hinge on connections, personalities and campaign outreach efforts.

The candidates are former Raleigh mayor Tom Fetzer; Lee County Commissioner Chad Adams; former Guilford County GOP chairman Marcus Kindley; and retired Navy veteran Bill Randall of Wake Forest.

The new Republican chairman's job will be to reverse GOP losses in state and national races in 2006 and 2008.
