Asheville city officials say a civilian police employee who posted profane Facebook comments about Occupy Asheville protesters and another city employee who joked about a comment online have been put on administrative leave.
The Asheville Citizen-Times reports (http://avlne.ws/tb4Iu9) that forensics specialist Lynn Fraser and community relations team member Melissa Williams were placed on leave while officials review their actions.
City manager Gary Jackson says he can't estimate how long the employee reviews will take.
Police say Fraser complained about the protesters in profane terms on her personal Facebook page and dismissed their suggestions that videotaping them was violating their Constitutional rights. In her reply, Williams repeated the profanity and added "LMAO."
Williams apologized Monday, saying she realizes it was inappropriate to joke about sensitive issues. Fraser hasn't commented.
