Karen Rowe says her college-bound daughter, Blair, recently received a Pell Grant.
Shortly after she got that notification she got a call saying she'd been selected to receive $7,000 in grant funding, but she needed to first pay $320.
The person on the phone asked for her banking information to get the process started more quickly. Blair said she didn't have a bank account and they asked her to wire the money via Western Union. The called told her she had to wire the money within 90 minutes or she would lose the $7,000.
Karen said she knew that you should never pay money to get a grant.
Thanks to Karen for this scam alert.
