The Better Business Bureau of Eastern North Carolina urges consumers to beware of an email scam that looks like an order cancellation from amazon.com.
The scam email appears to come from an amazon.com email address such as order-update@amazon.com. It contains the subject line "your cancellation" and order number. The email tells the consumer that "your order has been successfully cancelled" and often provides a link for the customer to click on.
Amazon cautions email recipients to delete any cancellation notice with an eight-digit order number to confirm cancellations or anything with your account.
Just visit amazon.com instead of clicking a link in the email itself.
