Scam Alert: A Warning From Aflac

Executives at the insurance company Aflac say the company's name is being used on checks and letters mailed to consumers claiming the recipients are winners of sweepstakes.

The letter instructs recipients to cash the check then wire funds to offset international taxes before collecting winnings. Aflac says the checks are bogus and urges consumers to disregard any letters or checks bearing the company's name that offer a promotional reward.

Aflac executives have contacted the FBI, the Secret Service, and the Better Business Bureau.
