SCAM ALERT: Fake Verizon Emails

The Better Business Bureau of Eastern North Carolina says Verizon customers are receiving phony emails that look almost identical to the real alerts many customers get to remind them of monthly payments.

Many of these fake emails say you owe nearly $500 which will generally cause a customer to panic and click the link to find out more. The BBB warns you to not click on the link because they put you at risk for identity theft. You can check the link by letting your mouse hover over the link. If you see a website that is anything other than a verizon.com URL do not click on it.
