IRS Warns About New Email Scam

The IRS says people are getting fradulent emails from the Electronic Federal Tax Payment System.

The email says that tax payments made through the system have been rejected. It directs you to a bogus website that has malicious software that can infect your computer. People who visit the site may be vulnerable to identity theft as a result.

The IRS says they do not contact people about their payments via email.

I work in scientific research. I agree that there are many jobs where we waste money (welcome to the past 200 years of the USA), but wont eliminating these without a private sector to support them just send us farther into the hole that the past 10 years have dug? Like hypothetically, we slash 1,000,000 "Extra jobs" and the private sector can not afford to hire but 200,000. Well 800,000 are now drawing unemployment and so we are still paying them? I think that a slow transition to an equilibrium is the solution, but going from hard left (obama) to hard right (bush) will never get us there, which is why a true 3rd party is needed. You may think the Jon Stewart rally is a liberal movement, but in all honesty, I think it is the 80 % of America that falls in the middle of our 2 party system and wants a little of each to run our country, but that will sadly never happen due to strong influences on both sides. BTW OSOC, what exactly do you do?

Really? Really? All you do is get rid of the government jobs you cannot afford. Next, again, do you work of a poor man? Please, enquiring minds want to know? If you are a state or federal worker you are on the tax dole. You produce nothing in the way of money directly. You support businesses that do and pay taxes along with people. You mean the socialist agenda for the common man?

Really... the tax income may drop, but the spending must decrease also. Schools waste too much money, states waste too much money, there are too many government jobs, there are too many people getting free rides. We don't have a tax problem (although taxes are too high) we have a SPENDING PROBLEM. I'm having to live with less.... so should uncle sam. Cut the programs ! Cut welfare ! Cut cut cut.

James, while in theory I like your idea, it would severely deplete the current amount of tax money that we bring in. I will pose this situation to you...with less tax money, our military would need to take an even larger percentage than they already do to sustain the conflicts all over the world. With them taking a higher percentage then that would leave WAYYY less money to support things like "meaningful" government jobs, fund education, and pay for roads or other infrastructure...So yes, while I like the idea of paying lower taxes via a fixed percentage, the reality is that govt would not function with a cut that significant. I think that the definition of "rich" should instead be raised to 500K or $1 million/year and that is where the progressive tax should be levied. I don't know about you, but I know only a handful of people that would fall into this classification meaning it would truly benefit the common person...but OSOC probably thinks this is wrong :p

The IRS should be shut down. We need a flat tax or fair tax, something so that 95% of the IRS is not needed. Everyone pay a percentage, no loop holes, no excuses.
