FBI Warns Of Payday Loan Collection Scams

The FBI says it gets a huge amount of calls from people targeted in payday loan telephone collection scams. Authorities say the scammer claims to represent the FBI, a law firm or other legitimate-sounding agencies, collecting debts for cash advance companies. The scam artists already have some personal financial information of the victims, including bank accounts and social security numbers.

Many victims told the FBI they completed online applications for loans or credit cards before these scam calls began.

The callers threaten victims with lawsuits, arrests, even physical violence if they refuse to pay.

The FBI says if this happens to you, call your bank, contact the three major credit bureaus to put an alert on your file, and call police if you feel like you are in danger. You can also file a complaint with the FBI.

I received calls from these jerks also. It was almost everyday that they called for weeks threatening me that I would be put in jail if I did not pay. The men who called claimed that they were lawyers and their office has my file. When I asked what law firm they are from they said: "USA CashNet". They had an American name and spoke with a heavy Indian accent. They claimed there was an outstanding loan from 3 years from a bank that I do not even deal with. I never had a payday loan with USA Cash Net either. I got aggressive with them too and hung up on them.

This actually started for me over a year ago. I sadly paid the first company that called me $1000 because I thought that my ex husband had taken out a payday loan in my name (was right after I left him). Since I paid them, I have had a total of 6 "different" companies contact me about every 3-4 months. The sad part is that they are very abusive. I have started playing back with them and telling them that I am recording the conversation. I also have looked up the laws for my state regarding non-payment of a payday loan and started quoting that to them. They become very upset and hang up. I then turn around and call them back several times until they start answering. They made the mistake of leaving a nasty message at my ex-employer and I now have that. One of my co-workers is now going through the same thing!! It's ridiculous, but try to make it a game for you too!!

So, I have received calls form these creeps, too...had payday loans in the past, but not in almost 2 years. So, are they buying the list form unscrupulous (not just greedy) payday lenders--maybe the same ones reported on Ripoff..com and other sites for continuing to deduct payments long after the loan and interest have been paid off? Who was YOUR payday lender? I saw "US Fast Cash" on Ripoff.com, and they did try to say I had a loan when I didn't anymore, but retracted when I got aggressive about reporting them.

I had this happen twice in the past. Three weeks ago I did get a cash advance loan and my first payment is coming due next week and guess what??? I got a call from these people AGAIN. Saying they are the FBI loan fraud investigation office...etc. It seems to me it's when I get a loan from this certain company. I am going to contact them and tell them what is going on. I hung up on the guy and then he called back and a co-worker told him that we were not to receive personal phone calls at work. YES!! He is calling me at work!

I went through the same thing last year. Said I old a payday loan and they were collecting the money. A lady would call, and when I get on the phone she will give the phone to a man. He call me name, fuss, talk ugly with all kind of language. Telling me he will be on the plane in a few hours to take me to court. That's if I don't wire the money to him. I ask for address-he got mad with me because I told him, I can't see you on the other end of the phone and people is scamming honest people out of their money. He took it a little farther and the calling ID show a Wallace coming from the Police Dept. So I call and they said there's no information on me at the Wallace Police dept. After I stop answering the call and recording all the ugly message the man left. I told him I was saving all meassages thathe left to take to court. Never got another call from him.

Report them, then get yours. Call them........but don't say anything at all. When they hang up, call them back and do the same thing..........and again and again. It's funny how these little dirtbags can dish it out but can't take it. And exactly what are they going to do about it? Report me? When they are conducting an international fraud, conspiracy, extortion and identity theft scam? Right!!! :) Give them heck!

These people are unreal!!! As with all the previous messages, they do the same thing..early calls, accents, threaten..however, when you ask them questions, they do become angry and hang up. Please do report and numbers and/or names you get. They need to be stopped somehow.
