With less than three months until the election in November, election-related scams are popping up. Here's one to avoid.
The Better Business Bureau of Eastern North Carolina says beware of offers of a free cruise for taking a survey over the phone. The BBB says at the end of the call, people are asked for a credit card number to cover port fees and taxes on this so-called free cruise. If you hesitate or ask to call back, the caller unleashes high-pressure tactics, saying the offer is good only right now, and hanging up will disqualify you from the free cruise. The BBB says, you won't get a cruise for giving up your credit card number; you'll open yourself to identity theft.
