A Scam Alert For Back-To-School Shoppers

An increase in the need for electronic gadgets for school will prompt parents to search for deals online. Experts warn, don't get scammed.

The folks at Mark Monitor, a brand protection firm, warn if a deal is too good to be true, it generally is. They suggest searching the vendors name plus "scam".

They also warn to watch your letters. Some scammers buy misspelled domain names, counting on you to make a typo and wind up on their site. Adding words like "cheap" or "discount" to searches also increases your chances of landing in a counterfeiter's cross-hairs.
