There is a new type of computer malware that costs you time and money.
The new "scareware" not only bombards you with sales pitches, it also stops you from opening your applications until you buy its specific antivirus software. The attack pushes "Total Security 2009."
When infected, your computer will only run Internet Explorer, and only so you can go to the Total Virus 2009 shopping page. The software sells for $79.95. You can opt for the "premium" service which costs $19.95 more. Your computer is then unlocked, and you can use it again.
