Fake Fundraiser For Sheriff's Office

The Onslow County Sheriff's Office is warning people not to donate money to callers who say they are raising money on their behalf.

People have been telling detectives about phone calls from people who say they are raising money on behalf of the Onslow County Sheriff's Office. The money, the caller says, will be used to buy bulletproof vests.

The Onslow County Sheriff's Office says they never solicit donations over the phone, and they are not currently raising money for bulletproof vests.

I have received several calls like this. Once you start asking questions and demand that they prove they are legitmate, they usually hang up.

If people want to donate money to the police ,try C.O.P.S (concerns of police survivors ) or the NLEOMF (National Law Enforcement officers memorial fund) both are legit and both do a lot for law enforcement .
