North Carolina Attorney General Roy Cooper is warning people about a new email claiming to be from the IRS.
The email claims you'll get your economic stimulus check faster by filling out a form online. The form that you can click to through the email prompts you to fill in your bank account information.
The IRS is not emailing people about their refunds or stimulus checks. Cooper says always beware of emails that ask for your social security number or bank account information.
If you’ve been the victim of a scam, you can contact Attorney General Roy Cooper’s Consumer Protection Division for assistance at 1-877-5-NO-SCAM.
