Car Warranty Extension Offers

The N.C. Attorney General is warning people about car warranty extension offers. The N.C. Attorney General's office has been receiving about 30 calls per week from people who have received postcards in the mail or phone calls urging them to renew their car warranties before they expire. The notices sound urgent and are high-pressured sales pitches. The state says some victims have been told they have to make a down payment before they even can get information on the warranty. The N.C. Attorney General says check your warranty first. It may have expired long ago, tipping you off that extending a warranty would be a scam. Also, the N.C. Attorney General says get information on a warranty in writing before you hand over any money or financial information.

I used to get these calls all of the time and I realized they didn't know my car type. The first thing they as is for your car info, so I asked them to give it to me since they called me. They hate this because it makes them stay on the phone longer w/ no sell. After going back and forth in 4 separate calls...they stopped calling. If they call me again, I'll go back and forth w/ them again...wasting their time and money.
